Last week a group of 30 Pixadores stormed the Choque Cultural Gallery in protest against the “marketing, institutionalization and domestication of Street Art” by the galleries and media. Paintings by Gerald Laing, Speto, Titi Freak and others were tagged by the Pixadores.

You know, it's kinda funny... alot of people TALK about doing things and how much they do this and that for our city, but what do they really do? I've seen pix of "our artists" and "our djs", (our meaning Houston's) in other cities partying it up and NONE of them in Houston helping with Ike relief... funny. Anyways, Got to talk with the Mayor and got to see my city come together like we're soo good at doin'.

This is footage from a phone call from Trae on Monday of this week. Aot of places weren't getting the help they needed and there are still some areas as of today that need help bad. Instead of waiting for FEMA/City to go to the areas that need the POD's, Trae wanted to get to them first. We linked up with Tiffany from Councilman Peter Brown's office and the phone calls start from there.

Here's some of that behind the scenes footage of how people make POWER PLAYS to help their city. I LOVE HOUSTON!

A Call to Help Houston from Crisco Kidd on Vimeo.

As of today, we are volunteering at a designated spot daily (Mon-Community of Faith, Tues-TSU, Wed-St. Agnes Church and today-Sharpstown Mall). We didn't know which way to help at first... A.) to do more volunteering w/FEMA PODs or B.) to help w/ debris removal from Senior's homes. We deciding to help with efforts already under way to stay more focused and organized. One highlight of all tis was when i interviewed Alberto Pillot from FEMA. About 15 minutes after, Tiffany called me and said we need PODS in Alief, 1960, and more on the Southwest. I ran down the hall, got Mr. Pillot and asked him to help us get PODS in these locations. He took my sticky tab and made the calls on the spot. A BIG THANK YOU TO HIM!

So far, Trae and ABN have done an outstanding job, Cristal Bubblin, Blaze and Party 93.3 have shown up to several POD locations and helped with efforts, Tiffany has kept me updated and in the loop with all info and now that I have my power back, I will be out at Sharpstown after I write this Blog.

Here's some pix of Trae REALLY puttin' on for his city... alot of these rappers and djs ain't doin NOTHING but taking credit for it.

I sat down with Alberto Pillot and got to ask questions about FEMA and how people can get help. These are the proper steps you need to follow to get the best assistance possible.

Well, I finally got to sleep last night. Woke up to a phone call from Trae asking if we could put sumthing together ourselves for people w/o FEMA. I immediately agreed and we started making phone calls to people from the Mayors office, City Council members, State Reps, other radio personalities and more... after about almost an hr. of pre-planning we outlined a plan and a few ideas we would like to see implemented or atleast presented to the public to help people out. Check the video, it shows how some people who have ideas can come together and make sumthing happen or atleast take a step in the right direction. Also, if you need more info or ANY info about FEMA, Red Cross, School closings, curfews and POD Locations, hit up www.PARTY933.com

On another note, after talkin' with the homie Byze, we will "officially" launch the newest blog site to the Block Party family, www.NEWKIDSONTHABLOG.com, Wednesday. Completely uncensored and raw. No political correctness, parental advisory and corporate approval neccessary; jus straight and to the point. And for the reggae heads, www.BLOGMARLEY.com will be exclusively for the reggae-heads. Byze's got the reggae sh_t onlock and u can expect nothin' but the hottest mixes, 420 reports and whatever else comes to his mind!

Aiight, well, this wraps up Day 4 of the Hurricane Ike experience.

P.S. - I'm still out of power in the crib, which is really unusual for where i live... thanks to my bro, i got to shower today in AC and lights. And for those that know my moms, her side of town is still out of power too.... well, 68% of the city and surrounding areas is STILL out of power and limited water; sh_t's crazy.

Well, it's Sunday, but here is some footage from Saturday afternoon on the way to go get food. We found a few spots open but the lines were CRAAZZYYY and the wait for food was horrible! Alot of people hit the streets around noon and immediately started looking for food. We took off at 4:30pm and we didn't get back to the station 'til around 9:30pm. YES, we did take a few minutes to blog out of the trip -which was worth it, BUT it LITTERALLY took that long to find a spot to get food. It took Miyako (the place we chose) a loooong time to get food for 70 ready. They had to go to another location to get more food. Total spent for that meal in post hurricane conditions... around $1,600! Anyways, here's some footage of how crazy, funny, serious and all the other emotions people are experiencing now in Houston... of course, there are waaay more SERIOUS situations, this is jus some of what my friends and I have experienced.

Sooo, following Hurricane Ike has been an event... here are a couple of pics from downtown, the midtown area and some from Galleria area. As you can see, there is ALOT of flooding, debris and more. Even driving thru my neighborhood, there is no power -like over 3 million us- and water is limited and branches and even full trees have been uprooted and are covering the streets. I will keep everyone updated as best as possible.
